We decided to finally post a video of Kyle at one of his favorite places, My Gym.  My Gym is a children’s fitness center that offers structured, age appropriate fitness classes for children ages 6 weeks on up to 13 years.  For younger children (3 years and under) My Gym offers classes where the parent participates in the class with their little one.  It is especially nice for the parents of toddlers such as myself because it allows us a little break while at the same time offers continuous fun and exploration for the little ones and allows them to release all that pent up energy in a safe atmosphere.  It is also a great way for young children to practice social skills with other kids in a relaxed setting.  They have various activities for the kids and every day the My Gym staff reorganize everything and bring out new activities so any one class is never the same and every class is new and exciting.

We were advised by Kyle’s specialists and were concerned for a while that Kyle’s epilepsy or seizure medicine would possibly set him back developmentally.  We chose to enroll him at My Gym because we thought that maybe somehow this could help him push himself physically if he was encouraged through structured activities.  His class has helped him beyond measure and we are daily seeing developmental progress.  Needless to say he is not behind whatsoever.  Kyle goes to this 45 minute heaven on earth twice per week and can’t seem to get enough of it.  He really wears himself out and on the way home he always falls asleep within minutes of leaving.  While getting him dressed and ready for class I will ask him “does Kyle want to go to My Gym today?” and a huge smile always sets across his face and sometimes he will point to the front door as if to say “what are we waiting for? Let’s go!”.

We have also been very blessed that My Gym encouraged us to apply for their financial aid program called “Challenged America” specially designed to help offset the tuition cost for children with medical conditions that pose developmental issues.  Kyle qualified for the program due to his epilepsy and that is how we have been able to afford to keep going to classes.   Check out the video and feel free to leave comments if you wish.

OMG! Monica, he is developing so quickly! He was having so much fun! What a good Mommy getting him into that program. I love how interactive the program is at My Gym! Hope to see you both soon! – D & Avee
